Aer Lingus A330 EI-DUO was ferried home from Orlando International after sustaining fire damage there on October 6th. During unloading a pallet loader erupted in flames at the starboard rear cargo door and the fire spread rapidly into the aircraft's rear cargo hold. Unfortunately, two ground staff suffered serious injuries in the incident.
Meanwhile, a second A330, EI-FNG is now u/s at Boston-Logan. It suffered multiple bird strikes to an engine during rotation but continued on it's journey and landed safely at Logan. However, an inspection showed damage to several fan blades and it's return trip to Dublin was cancelled.
HiFly's A330 was hired in to operate this evening's service to Boston.
