The Fokker 50 arrived from Cardiff on a rugby charter.  It had been in storage at Antwerp following the cessation of services by VLM Airlines in June 2016.  However, the airline has recently reformed under new management and recommenced charter operations.
Delta Airlines started a new daily service from/to Boston today.
As far as I recall Northwest Airlines were the last US carrier to operate on the route (using DC-10s & 747s) and flights had to route via Shannon - does anyone remember the Shannon stop-over? !!!
